what each exam actually covers
- MDCAT
- the entry test for medical and dental college admissions — biology, chemistry, and physics carry most of the weight, alongside English and logical reasoning.
- ECAT
- the entry test for engineering admissions in Punjab, covering mathematics, physics, and chemistry at the intermediate level.
- NUST NET
- NUST's own entry test for its engineering, computer science, and business programmes — run separately from ECAT, with its own format.
- FAST
- FAST-NUCES's own admission test for its computer science and engineering programmes, structured differently again from ECAT and NUST NET.
- CSS
- the Central Superior Services exam — one shot a year, covering compulsory and optional subjects plus an essay component.
- PMS
- the Provincial Management Service exam — the provincial equivalent of CSS, run by each province's own public service commission.
- LUMS LNAT
- LUMS's admission test for its law programme, testing reading comprehension and argument analysis — not legal knowledge you're not expected to have yet.
